Newark NJ police are trying to find a local man suspected of shooting at police officers while fleeing the scene of an armed robbery.
The incident occurred on November 11, 2016. According to authorities, the suspect and two other people were in the middle of robbing Jackie’s Kids Clothing Store, which is located at 693 Broad Street in Newark NJ, when police officers interrupted the theft attempt.
The suspects reportedly ran out of the children’s clothing store and tried to get away. During the police chase, the suspect allegedly used a handgun to fire multiple gunshots at the cops.
Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the police shooting incident.
Newark NJ detectives later identified the suspect as a 43-year-old man from Newark, New Jersey.
The other two suspects in the robbery have already been apprehended by police. They have both been charged with armed robbery.
Law enforcement is still searching for the Newark man accused of shooting at the police officers during the getaway. If and when police apprehend the suspect, he will face criminal charges for aggravated assault against a police officer and armed robbery.
