Newark NJ police recently arrested two people in connection with separate incidents: a shooting the city’s Central Ward and an armed robbery in the city’s Ironbound area.
The first incident occurred around 12:20 p.m. on January 10, 2017. The victim was walking along South 6th Street in Newark when someone used a handgun to fire gunshots at him.
The victim, a 38-year-old man from Newark NJ, was taken to nearby University Hospital and treated for his gunshot wounds. He was later released from the medical facility.
Newark NJ police investigated the shooting and identified the suspect, a 23-year-old East Orange male, as the likely shooter.
The suspect in the shooting was eventually apprehended by police officers with the Newark Police Department’s Fugitive Unit and placed under arrest. He has been charged with multiple crimes, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
The second incident occurred on January 24, 2017. Two teen boys, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, allegedly committed a robbery in the Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey.
Newark NJ police investigated the robbery and identified the teenage suspects as the possible culprits. Additionally, investigators believe that the suspects may have committed three other robberies in Newark.
