Newark NJ police recently arrested three men accused of committing an armed robbery on a city street.
The suspects allegedly robbed two people during the late-night hours in the area of Chestnut Street and Oliver Street in the Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey.
The victims, a man and a woman, were able to notify Newark NJ patrol officers who happened to be driving by shortly after the theft incident. The victims told cops that they had just been robbed while walking on Chestnut Street.
Newark police officers soon located the suspects in a Ford Expedition SUV.
During a subsequent search of the suspects’ vehicle, Newark NJ cops allegedly found a loaded .9mm handgun and illegal drugs that included 14 baggies of marijuana, 13 vials of crack cocaine, and 15 glassine envelopes filled with heroin. Law enforcement later learned that the firearm had been reported as stolen out of South Orlando, Florida.
All three suspects reside in Newark, New Jersey. They have been charged with numerous crimes, including armed robbery, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, possession of heroin, and weapons offenses.
