A murder suspect reportedly fired gunshots at someone in Newark, New Jersey.
The frightening incident unfolded on a city street a short time after 11:00 p.m., with the suspect allegedly brandishing a handgun and opening fire on a teenage resident. The victim was walking in the area of 11th Avenue and South 18th Street in Newark NJ when the suspect allegedly approached him and fired multiple gunshots in his direction.
The victim, a 28-year-old male who lives in Newark, was later taken to a hospital and treated for his gunshot-related injuries. His condition was said to be stable after receiving medical treatment from doctors at the medical facility.
The suspect was already wanted on a murder charge in connection with the homicide of an 18-year-old man. The homicide victim lived in Newark NJ and was shot and killed while walking along the 100 block of South 9th Street just three weeks ago.
The suspect, an 18-year-old man from Newark, is still at large and is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Anyone who comes across the suspect is asked to immediately notify authorities.
If and when the suspect is apprehended by law enforcement, he will face first degree murder charges that could land him behind bars for the rest of his life. As a result of the recent Newark shooting incident, the suspect will also be subject to additional criminal charges for aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.
