Police in Newark New Jersey are investigating a violent incident on a city street that resulted in three people sustaining significant physical injuries.
The scary incident went down around 8:20 p.m. According to law enforcement, the three victims were walking in the area of 15th Avenue and Bruce Street in Newark NJ when someone drove by and used a handgun to fire several gunshots in their direction. The victims all sustained gunshot-related injuries and fell to the ground while the shooter sped off in his motor vehicle.
Someone at the scene of the shooting subsequently dialed 911 and alerted the Newark Police Department to the shooting incident. Newark cops soon arrived at the scene and found the victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
The three victims were rushed to nearby University Hospital, where they were treated for their injuries. Hospital officials later said that the victims were listed in stable condition and that they were expected to survive their injuries.
At this time, authorities have not revealed any specific details about the investigation. If and when law enforcement identifies and apprehends the shooter, that individual would probably face criminal charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Depending on the circumstances, the suspect could end spending several years in New Jersey State Prison.
