Verona NJ police are looking for a man accused of exhibiting “unusual” behavior at a local preschool.
The incident occurred during the early morning hours. According to authorities, the suspect entered the Creative Beginnings Preschool located on Gould Street. Once inside the building, the suspect asked employees about the program.
School employees spoke with the suspect and tried to ask questions about his child. However, the suspect reportedly became evasive. According to school workers, the suspect began to ramble and replied with nonsensical answers.
When a school worker turned their back to the suspect, the suspect left the building without being seen. He allegedly got into a four-door burgundy sedan and drove away.
Verona police were immediately notified of the troubling incident. Verona police officers arrived at the scene and searched for the suspect, but they were unable to locate him in the area.
Authorities have released a description of the suspect. He is reportedly a white male in his mid-40s who stands roughly 6-feet tall. He has a thin build, as well as brown, graying hair. Witnesses told investigators that the suspect was wearing a burgundy shirt and glasses.
Verona NJ police said that the investigation into the unusual incident is active and ongoing.
If police are eventually able to find the suspect, he could face serious criminal charges. Depending upon the precise circumstances, the suspect could be charged with trespassing or even luring.
