A Newark NJ man has been accused of fatally shooting someone on a city street last month.
According to Essex County prosecutors, the suspect committed the homicide on the morning of December 30, 2016. The Newark Police Department received a report of a man having passed out on the 300 block of South 11th Street in Newark, New Jersey. Newark cops were dispatched to the area, where they found the victim lying on the pavement and unconscious. The victim was then pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was a 27-year-old man from Sunrise, Florida.
It is believed by authorities that the suspect used a handgun to shoot and kill the victim during a robbery attempt.
Newark NJ police officers and members of the FBI Fugitive Task Force eventually located and captured the suspect in Newark.
The suspect is a 38-year-old man from Newark, NJ. He has been charged with a slew of criminal offenses, including felony murder, armed robbery, kidnapping, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was remanded to the Essex County Jail in Newark, New Jersey. He was being held at the correctional facility in lieu of an undisclosed bail amount.
