Police in Newark NJ are searching for a person accused of driving a truck that crashed into three kids as they attempted to walk across the street.
The traffic accident occurred during rush hour, around 3:15 p.m. According to authorities, the three victims were walking across the intersection of Ferry Street and Lafayette Street, in the Ironbound section of Newark, when they were hit by a white truck.
After striking the victims, the driver of the vehicle stopped momentarily but then continued driving and left the scene of the accident.
The victims, two 12-year-old girls and a 9-year-old boy, were transported to nearby University Hospital, where they received medical treatment for minor injuries that included cuts and abrasions.
Meanwhile, Newark NJ police spoke with witnesses at the scene of the hit-and-run accident and got the suspect’s license plate number. Investigators tracked the vehicle to a location in Elizabeth NJ. The truck was later towed to Newark, New Jersey.
