Newark New Jersey police recently arrested a Bloomfield man accused of possessing a large quantity of illegal drugs.
According to authorities, the suspect was running a major drug distribution operation throughout Essex County, NJ. When law enforcement learned about the drug trafficking network, they opened an investigation into the suspect. The investigation included the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the Newark Police Department, and the Bloomfield Police Department.
Once investigators had enough information to obtain a search warrant, they executed the warrant at the suspect’s apartment in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
A subsequent search of the suspect’s residence allegedly turned up 528 bricks of heroin and more than 70 pounds of marijuana. The drugs seized by police reportedly have an estimated street value of around $650,000.
Police also reportedly found a loaded rifle inside the suspect’s apartment.
The suspect, a 37-year-old man who lives in Bloomfield, NJ, now faces a number of criminal charges, including heroin possession, possession of heroin with intent to distribute, marijuana possession, and distribution of marijuana.
