Newark New Jersey police recently arrested a local man accused of illegally possessing a handgun at a city apartment.
The suspect is a 55-year-old man who resides in Newark, NJ. According to law enforcement, the suspect was caught carrying a handgun at a local apartment.
The Newark Police Department received a call about a man holding a firearm at an apartment building located on Johnson Avenue in Newark. It was just before 10:00 a.m. when authorities got the report of the suspect.
Newark cops went to the apartment complex and allegedly found the suspect with the firearm. He was placed under arrest without incident.
The suspect faces multiple weapons offense charges for allegedly carrying a handgun without a valid carry license or permit. If he is convicted on the very serious criminal charges, he could be subject to a mandatory term of incarceration under the NJ Graves Act.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, NJ.
