Police recently arrested a Newark NJ man accused of fatally shooting someone in Irvington, New Jersey.
The suspect is a 37-year-old male resident of Newark, NJ. According to Essex County law enforcement officials, the suspect used a handgun to shoot and kill a 33-year-old man on a street in Irvington.
The victim, an Irvington resident, was reportedly walking on the 300 block of Myrtle Avenue around 12:00 p.m. on May 12 when someone shot him in the leg. Paramedics rushed the victim to University Hospital in Newark NJ, but he later died as a result of his shooting-related injuries.
Irvington police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office investigated the shooting incident and apprehended the suspect.
The suspect has been charged with numerous crimes, including first degree murder, felony murder, conspiracy, and criminal weapons charges.
If the suspect is convicted on the most serious charges of first degree murder, he could potentially be sentenced to life imprisonment in New Jersey State Prison.
