Newark NJ police recently arrested a man in the North Ward and charged him with cocaine possession.
The suspect is a 22-year-old resident of Newark, New Jersey. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect was seen exiting his residence on the 300 block of North 11th Street and carrying a brown bag filled with drugs.
Newark police officers were surveilling the suspect’s home and followed him as he reportedly drove off in a 2008 Honda Odyssey. Cops pulled over the suspect’s car as he approached Belleville NJ. When police officers approached the car, they allegedly saw the suspect try to hide narcotics in the backseat.
Newark NJ cops and Essex County Sheriff’s officers reportedly discovered large quantities of illegal narcotics, including cocaine and drug paraphernalia, while searching the suspect’s Newark apartment and his motor vehicle. The seized drugs have a reported street value of around $15,000.
The suspect has been charged with several drug crimes, including possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additionally, the suspect could face enhanced penalties due to charges for possession with intent to distribute cocaine near a public school.
