Fairfield NJ police recently arrested a Hackettstown man accused of drunk driving when he crashed his car into an office building.
The crazy car accident occurred around 2:30 a.m. According to authorities, the 52-year-old suspect was driving a 2013 black Ford vehicle on Route 46 in Fairfield at the time of the accident. The car went crashing into the first floor entrance of a building located on the 600 block of the highway.
Fairfield NJ police officers later investigated the motor vehicle accident and spoke with a security guard at an adjoining building. The guard reportedly witnessed the car crash and said that the suspect’s vehicle went through one side of the office building and came to a stop on the opposite side.
After the accident, the suspect allegedly drove off and fled the scene of the crash. He was spotted driving westbound on Route 46. Fairfield police officers eventually caught up to the suspect and pulled over his vehicle. The suspect’s car reportedly had signs of significant damage, including smashed glass.
When police officers spoke with the suspect, they reportedly observed that he was under the influence of alcohol. Fairfield NJ police conducted a field sobriety test of the suspect and allegedly found that the suspect was highly intoxicated.
The suspect was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). He was also cited for a number of related traffic offenses.
