Fairfield New Jersey police arrested a Teaneck man accused of shoplifting a video game console from a local Target.
The theft incident occurred around 6:35 p.m. at the Target located at 632 Route 46 East in Fairfield, NJ. According to authorities, the suspect looked around the store for a while and then stole a PlayStation 4 gaming system. The stolen item reportedly has a retail value of $250.
Store security subsequently notified the Fairfield Police Department, which dispatched officers to the scene. Fairfield NJ cops quickly arrived at the scene and detained the suspect outside the Target store.
However, while police were in the process of moving the suspect to a patrol car, he got away. Despite the fact that the suspect was wearing handcuffs, he was able to get away from the officers.
Fairfield NJ police canvassed the area in search of the suspect and eventually located him along Route 46, near Dale Drive. The suspect was apprehended behind the Ashley Furniture Store located just off the highway.
The suspect is a 28-year-old resident of Teaneck, New Jersey. He faces criminal charges for theft of movable property. It is also likely that the suspect will be charged with resisting arrest.
