Newark NJ police recently apprehended three shooting suspects, each of whom was wanted in connection with a different shooting incident. According authorities, police made the three arrests on the same day.
The first suspect, a 23-year-old woman, allegedly ordered the shooting of a man at a residence on the 300 block of Broadway in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood of Newark, NJ. She reportedly got into an argument with the victim in January 2016. At some point, the argument escalated, prompting the suspect to call several other people to the house. When the other individuals arrived, they allegedly fired several gunshots at the victim.
The suspect was eventually arrested and charged with aggravated assault for her alleged role in the shooting.
The second shooting suspect is a 55-year-old woman who allegedly fired gunshots at a person in December 2015. Newark police arrested the suspect at a residence located on Clinton Avenue in Irvington, New Jersey. She has been charged with aggravated assault.
The third suspect is an 18-year-old man who allegedly played a role in a shooting on the 100 block of Frelinghuysen Avenue in Newark, NJ. That shooting occurred in February 2016. Now that the suspect has been placed under arrest, he faces criminal charges for aggravated assault.
At this time, the Newark Police Department has dedicated detectives who are investigating all three shooting incidents. It is possible that Essex County prosecutors will eventually charge one, two, or all three of the suspects with weapons offenses, in addition to the aggravated assault charges.
