Police recently arrested a man accused of committing a fatal shooting of a woman in East Orange, New Jersey.
East Orange NJ police received a report of a shooting on the 200 block of North Maple Avenue.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the 21-year-old victim was sitting in a parked car when the suspect shot her. Prosecutors said that the victim lived in East Orange.
After the shooting, the victim was transported to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, doctors were unable to save her; she was pronounced dead a short time after arriving at the medical facility.
Authorities investigated the shooting and quickly identified the suspect, a 21-year-old man from Newark, New Jersey
The suspect was placed under arrest not long after the shooting. He has been charged with murder, as well as weapons offenses.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was taken to the Essex County Correctional Facility. He is being held at the jail in lieu of $750,000 bail.
At this time, little information about the killing has been released to the public. Authorities have not indicated a possible motive for the shooting.
The prosecutor’s office anticipates making more arrests in the case.
