Newark NJ law enforcement arrested a man accused of burglarizing a local home on Thanksgiving Day.
The theft incident occurred at a residence located on Littleton Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. It was around 7:15 p.m. on Thanksgiving night when the Newark Police Department received a call from a resident at the home. The woman told police dispatchers that she had returned home and opened the door when she found the suspect inside the house.
The suspect reportedly exited the house and attempted to flee the scene, only to be chased by the victim. As the victim ran after the suspect, she dialed 911 and alerted local law enforcement.
Newark NJ police officer soon arrived and were directed to the suspect’s location. The Newark cops pursued the suspect and eventually placed him under arrest.
Newark detectives later investigated the break-in and determined that the suspect gained entry into the house by entering an open window.
The suspect is a 31-year-old man who lives in Newark NJ. He has been charged with burglary and resisting arrest. The suspect has also been charged with simple possession of marijuana because the arresting officers allegedly discovered him carrying a small amount of pot.
