Newark NJ police are trying to find a man who allegedly shot two women during a domestic violence incident.
The domestic dispute reportedly occurred on Hunterdon Avenue around 9:30 p.m. The suspect allegedly got into a verbal altercation with the two female victims. The verbal dispute then escalated to a physical dispute, with the suspect allegedly brandishing a firearm and firing gunshots at the women.
The suspect, a 26-year-old Irvington NJ man, then ran from the scene and was long gone by the time Newark police officers got there.
Fortunately, the two victims did not sustain any injuries as a result of the shooting.
Detectives with the Newark Police Department investigated the shooting and ultimately determined that it was a “domestic violence incident.” Police have issued an arrest warrant for the suspect on several criminal charges, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Now Newark law enforcement is asking for the public’s help as they attempt to locate and capture the suspect. The police department issued a press release stating that authorities hope to quickly find and remove the suspect from Newark streets.
