Irvington NJ police conducted drug raids throughout the township and reportedly seized cocaine, heroin, and other illegal drugs valued at more than $300,000.
Authorities began an investigation after receiving tips about a drug distribution network operating out of Irvington, New Jersey. The drug ring allegedly distributed cocaine, heroin, and other illicit narcotics throughout Essex County, NJ. After a two-month investigation, police obtained search warrants.
The Irvington Police Department Threat Assessment Criminal Intelligence Team (TACIT) and the Irvington Police Department Special Enforcement Response TEAM (SERT) worked with the New Jersey State Police tactical unit to coordinate drug raids at multiple locations in Irvington, NJ.
The raids reportedly resulted in seizure of 1,820 grams of raw heroin, 1,790 grams of cocaine, 2,500 envelopes filled with heroin, three grams of marijuana, numerous ecstasy tablets, and drug packaging materials. Additionally, police allegedly seized a 9mm handgun, several large-capacity ammunition magazines, numerous rounds of ammunition, a stolen luxury vehicle, and approximately $12,000 in cash.
A total of five people have been arrested so far and charged with various crimes, including distribution of cocaine, distribution of heroin, possession of marijuana, prescription drug possession, and weapons offenses.
