East Orange New Jersey police are investigating an early-morning shooting on a city street.
The East Orange Police Department received a report about gunshots in the area of William Street and Prospect Street sometime after midnight.
When police officers got to the scene, they found two victims suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was a 29-year-old Newark resident who had been shot three times in the abdomen. The other victim was a 40-year-old Newark resident who sustained gunshots to his legs and groin area.
The two victims were later transported to University Hospital in Newark, NJ. After receiving medical treatment for their injuries, the victims were listed in stable condition.
Authorities believe that the victims were injured during an attempted armed robbery.
When East Orange police investigated the crime scene, they reportedly found three guns.
Police also took two suspects into custody. Although the suspects have not yet been identified, at least one of them has already been charged with a slew of criminal offenses, including aggravated assault, robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
