Police are continuing to search for the driver who allegedly hit and killed the sister of a former prosecutor with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
The 70-year-old victim was struck by a car while she walked near the intersection of Sanford Avenue and South Orange Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. According to authorities, the victim was dragged dozens of feet by the vehicle. The driver then fled the scene.
The victim suffered severe injuries as a result of the hit-and-run accident. She was transported to nearby University Hospital shortly after the accident. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the hospital.
The victim was the sister of Clifford Minor, a former Essex County prosecutor. Minor was also a candidate for Newark mayor at one point.
The Essex County Sheriff’s Office initially offered a $5,000 reward in the days immediately following the victim’s death. However, there have been no breaks in the case since then and very little information provided to investigators. As a result, authorities are once again asking for the public’s assistance in tracking down the suspect. The Essex County Sheriff’s Office Crime Stopper Program is continuing to publicize a $5,000 reward for information which leads to an arrest in the hit-and-run case.
Authorities are asking that anyone with information about the suspect or the incident please get in touch with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force at 877-847-7432.
