Police in Essex County are searching for a Newark man accused of murdering someone outside a go-go bar in February 2015.
According to law enforcement, the 30-year-old suspect shot and killed the 23-year-old victim near 21 Foxes Go-Go, a strip club located on Passaic Street in Newark, New Jersey. The victim lived in East Orange, NJ.
It is believed that the murder stemmed from an attempted robbery.
After the shooting, the victim was rushed to nearby University Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors were unable to save the victim; he died after arriving at the medical facility.
An arrest warrant was issued approximately one month after the homicide. However, law enforcement has been unable to locate the suspect since then.
Now police are stepping up their efforts to find the murder suspect. The Essex Sheriff’s Office recently offered a $5,000 cash reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest of the suspect.
Authorities said that the suspect sometimes uses the nickname “Yum Yum” and he is often seen at the Broadway Townhouses in Newark.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office hopes that by spreading the word about the suspect, Newark residents will be on the lookout for him.
Members of the public with information about the suspect or his location should call the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force tip line at 877-847-7432.
