Newark NJ law enforcement arrested a Pennsylvania man who allegedly fired a handgun on a street in Newark, New Jersey.
According to Newark authorities, the scary incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. on the 500 block of South 18th Street in Newark, NJ. The suspect allegedly fired at least one gunshot at a motor vehicle that was fleeing the area.
Thankfully, no one was struck by the gunshot and no one inside the car sustained any injuries as a result of the shooting.
The Newark Police Department received a call about gunshots being heard and quickly dispatched officers to the scene. When police officers got to the area, they saw the suspect and arrested him.
Police officers also came across several minors who were out on the street after curfew. The juveniles were later released into the custody of their parents or adult guardians.
Meanwhile, the suspect, a 21-year-old man from Pennsylvania, faces a number of criminal charges, including illegal possession of a handgun and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The suspect has also been charged with aggravated assault because he allegedly used the handgun to fire at least one gunshot.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was taken to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, NJ. He was being held at the jail in lieu of a $125K bail amount.
