Police in Newark NJ are looking into a recent shooting that required the victim to seek immediate medical attention.
Newark police received multiple reports of a shooting in the 40th block of Parkhurst Street in Newark, New Jersey. When police officers got to the scene, they did not see the victim. The responding officers then attempted to find the victim by canvassing the area.
The police officers eventually learned that the shooting occurred in the area and that an unknown civilian had already transported the injured man to nearby University Hospital.
According to authorities, the victim suffered a gunshot wound to the forearm. He was treated at the hospital and was later listed in stable condition.
If a suspect in the shooting is eventually identified and caught, they could face significant criminal charges for aggravated assault. Depending upon the exact circumstances of the incident, the culprit could also be charged with weapons offenses such as unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
