Newark NJ police recently arrested an 18-year-old man who allegedly committed an armed robbery in South Orange, NJ.
According to authorities, the suspect was one of three men who approached a residence on Hillside Place in South Orange, New Jersey. The homeowner was sitting in his car at the time; the vehicle was parked in the driveway.
One of the suspects allegedly pointed a shotgun at the victim. The suspect then reportedly instructed the victim to get out of his vehicle and lay on the ground.
The three suspects allegedly stole the victim’s wedding ring and iPhone before fleeing the scene on foot.
Authorities were called to the residence and immediately started an investigation. The departments assisting with the investigation included South Orange police, Newark police, New Jersey State Police, and the Essex County Sheriff’s Office.
A day after the incident, Newark police officers found one of the suspects in Newark, New Jersey. The suspect was allegedly driving a car linked to a different shotgun robbery in Newark.
The suspect was arrested without incident and charged with armed robbery.
Police are continuing to investigate the case. Authorities believe that the suspect was involved in a number of similar armed robberies throughout Essex County.
The other suspects in the South Orange incident have yet to be apprehended by police.
