Police are searching for a Newark NJ man who is wanted on aggravated assault charges in connection with a shooting that left someone in critical condition.
The shooting went down around 9:35 a.m. near the intersection of South 14th Street and 9th Avenue in Newark, New Jersey. Newark police received an alert of gunshots being fired in the area. When Newark NJ cops arrived at the scene of the shooting, they found the victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
According to authorities, the victim was shot while he worked on a ladder. He was later transported to University Hospital in Newark, where doctors treated him for his gunshot-related injuries. The victim was later listed in critical condition.
Investigators with the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office eventually identified the shooter as a 43-year-old man who resides in Newark, New Jersey.
The suspect has not yet been apprehended, but he has already been charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon. A conviction on either criminal charge would likely result in severe penalties, including a lengthy term of incarceration in NJ State Prison.
