A Newark New Jersey man reportedly pleaded guilty to federal charges of sexually abusing two underage girls.
According to federal attorneys, the 26-year-old suspect sexually abused two young girls in 2012.
Moreover, the suspect allegedly recorded the sexual abuse on his cell phone.
Prosecutors said that the suspect took multiple photos on his cell phone while he committed the sex crimes against the two victims.
At some point, law enforcement became aware of the allegations. Police then investigated the suspect and executed a search warrant on his laptop, desktop computer, and cell phone. A subsequent search of the items reportedly turned up the illegal photographs.
The suspect was eventually placed under arrest and charged with two counts of child pornography.
The suspect recently appeared in U.S. District Court in Newark NJ and pleaded guilty to the sex offense charges.
The suspect will have to return to the district court in September for sentencing. Depending upon the circumstances, he could be sentenced to up to 60 years in federal prison. Additionally, the district court judge could potentially impose a fine of up to $500,000.
As a result of the conviction, the suspect will almost certainly be required to register as a sex offender if and when he is released from prison.
