Police arrested a Newark NJ man who allegedly took part in the shooting death of a woman in East Orange, New Jersey.
According to authorities, the 21-year-old suspect had something to do with the death of the 21-year-old victim. The victim lived in East Orange.
The victim was shot while sitting in her car, which was parked along the 200 block of North Maple Avenue. She was later found suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was rushed to University Hospital in Newark, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes and Homicide Task Force began an investigation. The investigation into the slaying remains active and ongoing. Investigators eventually identified the suspect as someone who took part in the killing.
Prosecutors expect to make more arrests in connection with the murder. At this time, prosecutors have not yet revealed information about a motive for the killing.
The suspect has been charged with murder. He also faces charges for weapons offenses.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was taken to the Essex County Jail in Newark, NJ. He is being held at the facility in lieu of $750,000 bond.
This incident is the first murder in East Orange this year. There were just two murders in East Orange during 2014.
