Police arrested a Montclair New Jersey man who allegedly fired a gun at another person on a township street.
The Montclair Police Department received a call about shots fired at the intersection of Claremont Avenue and Greenwood Avenue in Montclair, NJ. The incident occurred shortly before 11:00 p.m.
Thankfully, no one was injured as a result of the shooting.
When police officers arrived at the scene of the reported shooting, they immediately conducted an investigation and searched the area for the culprit. Police later arrested the 25-year-old suspect.
The suspect faces several criminal charges, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
At this time, investigators do not yet know what might have prompted the shooting incident. Authorities believe that the shooting may have been a “targeted attack.”
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was taken to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
Montclair investigators have asked for the public’s help in linking the suspect to the shooting. Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police at 973-744-1234.
