Bloomfield NJ police arrested a man who was allegedly intoxicated when he fell asleep while behind the wheel of a car.
Bloomfield police received a call about a vehicle that was stopped in the middle of the intersection of John F. Kennedy Drive North and Liberty Street. When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly found the suspect asleep behind the wheel of a parked 2002 Honda. Police said that the car was still running; however, the suspect’s foot was allegedly on the brake of the running car.
According to police, the officers woke up the suspect and instructed him to put the car in park.
An investigation of the incident led the officers to conclude that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol. As a result, they placed the suspect under arrest and took him to police headquarters.
The suspect has been charged with drunk driving. The suspect faces additional charges for possession of synthetic marijuana because police allegedly found him in possession of K2 Spice, which is a kind of synthetic marijuana.
After being arrested and charged, the suspect was released on his own recognizance. He has a pending court date to answer the charges.
