Belleville NJ police recently arrested a man accused of shooting his 23-year-old son.
The suspect is a 56-year-old man who lives in a home located on Mallone Avenue in Belleville, New Jersey. According to authorities, the suspect used a handgun to fire at least one gunshot at his adult son.
After the shooting, the victim walked to a neighbor’s home. Someone at the home then dialed 911 and called for an ambulance. Emergency medical responders rushed to the scene and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated him for his injuries. The victim was later listed in stable condition and was expected to survive.
Meanwhile, Belleville police arrested the suspect and charged him with numerous crimes, including aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
Belleville detectives are actively investigating the shooting incident. At this time, investigators have not determined what precipitated the shooting.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail in lieu of a $150K bail amount.
