Newark NJ police recently arrested a man who was allegedly involved in a home invasion that turned fatal.
According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, three men broke into a Newark residence and attempted to commit an armed robbery. The incident reportedly occurred shortly before midnight.
Something went wrong during the robbery, resulting in the suspects allegedly shooting the two occupants of the home.
When police arrived at the scene, they found a 32-year-old male and a 31-year-old male suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victims were rushed to nearby University Hospital. Tragically, doctors were unable to save the 32-year-old victim; he was pronounced dead at the medical facility. The other victim’s medical condition has not been updated.
Police later arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with the murder. The other two suspects in the killing remain at large.
The suspect who was arrested has been charged with felony murder and unlawful possession of a weapon, in addition to other criminal charges.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, NJ. He was being held at the jail on a massive $1 million bail amount.
Newark police are still searching for the other two suspects in the killing.
